Pretending to be my boyfriend to save me from that strung-out patient sure came out of left field.
His first day on the job too.
Well, it worked. And now he’s my hero.
The new paramedic sure has caught my attention.
Though I’ll never admit to it—
that would be breaking my #1 rule:
Never fall for a coworker, ever again.
I learned that the hard way and I won’t make that mistake twice.
Even if he is a handsome silver fox who should be on the cover
of a first-responder calendar.
Then he goes and saves me a second time—
He’s always at the right place at the right time.
He’s always there for me.
The more my fake boyfriend protects me,
the less pretending we’re doing.
And the more I learn about him,
the smaller our age gap becomes.
And the more time we spend together,
the closer I get to breaking my own rule.
...And damn, but he can cook too.
I knocked on her door and took a step back. The door swung open, and Sophie stood there wearing a silver silk robe that came down to her mid-thigh.
Without saying a word, I grabbed her around the waist and pressed my lips against hers. She reciprocated without hesitation, and without breaking the kiss, I moved her against the wall. She wrapped her arms around my neck as she kissed back, and, in doing so, released the hold she had on the front of her robe.
Sophie and Paul had me fully rooting for them and completely invested in what was developing between them. The chemistry was powerful and put me through all of the emotions. There were plenty of times I was laughing and then crying right after. They had me experiencing everything. And there was some suspense that kept me hooked that was happening as well. This book was such a good mixture of so many things and I absolutely loved it. It's one I will be reading again.
